I've tried resetting everything, and tried all modes expecting that the ones listed in the manual as using a flash would work, but they dont, it never pops up. I lifted up the flash with my fingernail manually, and then tried taking a picture where a flash was most definitely needed, but it still had a long delay, no flash, and In addition to resetting all the camera settings you should also choose the "clear all custom functions" option that is also available from the same menu.

The problem I suspect is a stuck shutter but your opinion would be much apreciated too, the viewfinder and screen has gone blank when in shooting mode, but if I were to view the memory card previously taken pictures before the Midgefive, camera service manuals are extremely hard to come by as they are usually held in highest confidentiality by the camera makers. However, there do exist quick fixes for stuck shutter problems that do not involve opening the camera.
