I managed to get an updated audio driver installed, after that SP1 showed up as avaliable via windows update. I downloaded the update and started the installation process.

I have no idea what happened since no error was generated. I did not disable antivirus or antispyware or wireless connection during this first attempt.

I will try again tomorrow and disable these items before I proceed with the install. All I know is, Vista is becoming very tiresome. I find myself spending more time troubleshooting problems than being productive using the computer.

I think it may have had some files locked on the first failed attempt. The install was rather lengthy, almost 2 hours in stage 3. So far, everything appears to be working ok.
