Can you help us improve? Resolved my issue. Clear instructions. Easy to follow. No jargon. Pictures helped. Didn't match my screen. It can take several tries depending on how many rollbacks it does. Then do same for Device Maker's site. Manually look at manufacturer's sites for drivers - and Device Maker's sites. Highlight speaker and on the lower Right click Properties check settings for Device Usage enabled and so on. Also do same for Configure on Lower Left of that box.
I did as you instructed it shows that Windows Audio IS running. I checked for updates and it said that Windows determined the driver software is up to date. It is like it is not acknowledging the speakers are hooked up. I haven't messed with the speaker hook ups at all. When I right click on the speaker icon by the clock an click Properties it says No Audio Devices are installed!
I am totally confused I followed your instructions on first link. One question, how to reboot? Do I keep hitting F8 until the screen appears? And when the screen does come up, which choice for startup do I make? I went to Services and checked and it said Windows Audio is Started. Tried the link above and got lost. I have right clicked on speaker icon and it said "No Audio Devices installed".
I am at a loss. I don't know what to do. Everything says it's running and the driver is up to date, but it isn't acknowledging that the speakers are hooked up!.
I am not the most computer knowledgeable person in the world, so maybe it is me. I need a solution spelled out in easy to follow steps If you need to use F8 then pick Safe Mode with networking - is the usual choice. Here's a screenshot of the properties settings yyou'll need to change from "This account" to "Local System Account".
